Peaches and Cream

The one thing that got me through this work week, and man has it been exhausting, was the thought of curling up in my jammies and this cardigan and catching up on RHONY tonight. This cardigan is seriously the softest material I have ever felt. Every year it’s hyped by so many bloggers during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but it has always been a little pricey in my eyes. This year, curiosity got the best of me and I ordered it in this versatile cream color and the stone grey color too. And man, oh man, do these babies live up to and exceed the hype! It’s like wearing a cloud; they are so soft, lightweight, and luxurious feeling. I don’t even know how I lived this long without one, lol. If you are on the fence about scooping one up, I cannot encourage you enough to do so, you will not regret it, promise!

Ok, yes, it might be a little early to actually wear a blanket scarf, I mean it was 90 degrees here yesterday. But, all the best fall pieces are starting to come out now, especially with the NSALE still in full swing for another week. So, if you wait until it cools off (which lets face it, might not be for months still), then some of the pieces you love might already be out of stock. My motto for fall clothing is; if you love it, buy it when you see it. Plus, for me fall clothing also gets worn through the winter, and in Michigan winter can last 5 months, so investing in pieces during our short summer, while it seems crazy, actually pays off once summer finally sets.

When shopping the NSALE, or at any retailer that is starting to release their fall lines (aren’t they all now?), I definitely suggest grabbing some blanket scarves, stocking up on cardigans and cozy sweaters, and getting those cute boots/booties. But, be sure to also throw in some year-round basics like this tee and these dark wash skinnies, to wear both now, sans scarf, and later, with it. They make great transition pieces, especially in earthy colors, like this terracotta orange. Stocking-up on these types of basics will allow you to get extra mileage out of those pieces since you can wear them now, and in November with your “fall” purchases. Or if your house and workplace are freezing, like mine both are, then you might not have to wait until November after all!

Happy Friday!

xo, Ray
